You had to get a second extension to block YT ads with AdBlock Plus, but uBlock did it all in one extension. Then AdBlock Plus did that shit with non-intrusive ads, and sticking with uBlock became a matter of principle. AdBlock Plus is owned by a company that makes a cut by whitelisting "non-intrusive ads".

Go to uBlock Origin GitHub release page and find dev build. Install it and you are good to go. It worked for me. Started seeing ads on YouTube and uBlock showed 0 blocked ads but with dev build its working fine.

So first you need to have ublock origin extention installed. Then click on the icon for it and go to the dashboard. Under my filters add. twitch.tv##+js (twitch-videoad) then go back to settings and scroll down and click "I am and advanced user" then click the gear icon next to it.
